India, with its sprawling metro cities has some of the most dynamic and exciting urban landscapes across the globe. Not surprisingly, this also means that as India is such a flourishing country, there are thousands of challans – or notices regarding traffic violations – handed out every single day. In an effort to promote proper road etiquette amongst citizens and keep them from behaving recklessly on the roads and highways, the government has made it possible for drivers to pay their traffic tickets electronically through a secure website.
While in places like New Delhi, the traffic police are much more strict when it comes to enforcing challan traffic rules, it is convenient for drivers and car owners of Delhi to pay their fines online. If a driver is issued an e-challan or fine via the internet, they will be notified either by text message alert or notification directly sent to their email address upon payment.
An e-challan is generated with a help of an electronic system and issued to defaulters who do not obey the traffic rules. For the convenience of the citizens, online traffic challan payment is possible.
Once you received the E-challan on you mail/sms. Please follow these steps:
Step 1: Visit Delhi Traffic Police website or you can follow the link which has been sent to you in your mail/sms.
Step 2: If you follow the link which has been sent to you in your mail/SMS, you’ll directly land to the payment stage. Or else if you haven’t received any mail/SMS than you can search your challan notice by the “Vehicle Number” or “Notice Number” .
Step 3: Once you received the details and payable amount on you Challan, now you can continue with the payment. Here you’ll get all the payment mode like Net Banking, Credit Cards, Debit cards and even via UPI etc.
Step 4: Once you are done with the payment you’ll receive a Payment Receipt of your challan.
Jumping signals, speeding, and violating any kind of traffic rules are some of the common reasons people are penalized.
If sometimes you are unable to pay your e-challan online, the delhi government has provisions for people to also pay challans offline. You can carry your challan/notice number with you and pay dues to the challan traffic police who would have an electronic challan machine.
